Backstory
On a trade road outside of Ul'dah, a husband and wife walk with their three-year-old son. As the boy clings to his mother's hand, he watches a flock of birds fly overhead. Thanalan was cool this time of year, which made trips away from the bustle of the city more bearable. The hyuran couple talk about adopting another son. They wanted another, but little Eric's arrival had been beyond traumatizing. Still, his mother loved him dear. The couple share fond looks at one another, and their boy, before returning to the road ahead. Somewhere in the far distance, ceruleum-powered engines roar to life.Hardwell Hayward was his name. The name his new family gave him. A name that he sullied all too soon. From running away from home numerous times at a young age, to involving himself in banditry and homestead raids as a young adult. The Hayward family would not stand a member of theirs to be a 'murderous highwayman'. They disowned him via a letter. Rundal Grim became his name, and that would forever be.The Seventh Umbral Calamity came and went. Rundal's band of like-minded compatriots disbanded. Some were killed, others fled further into the countryside- only to also die or ply their trade elsewhere. Rundal returned to the city. To Ul'dah. Among the disarray and destruction, there was no sign of his mother or father. Nor their home. Nothing about them remained. At least his brother lived, in the cold hellscape Coerthas had become.Soon older brother Eric found himself with a life sentence in a dungeon in Ishgard. Kidnapping and ritualistic murder often led to such things. Just like drinking led to more drinking for younger brother Rundal. When he wasn't getting wasted and trashing his apartment, his body was still fit for combat. And there'd always be someone in need of a mean face carrying a blade.
The Present
Despite that which plagues him with guilt, Rundal Grim has begun to do well for himself in more recent years. With his own little plot of land outside of Ul'dah, he's taken up the practice of botany. It's going about as well as one would expect for a once-highwayman- of whom is surely more used to holding a sword or axe. Still, he tries.Mercenary work continues to bring in a steady source of gil. As well, he's been hired at a private venue - one where people go to so they may drink, dance, and wile away the late evening hours with some company.
Hooks
• A Sword for Hire: You are in need of someone who looks like they can handle themselves if need be. Thankfully, there is a highlander clad in armor, with shield and sword both at his side, who looks capable sitting in a bar or inn near you.• Road of Ill Memories: In the Black Shroud, there is a road that is often taken by travelers, merchants, and all manner of folk. At one edge, there is a sudden, sharp embankment which drops a good distance. Standing on that edge, looking down into the mess of overgrown and gnarled brush, is a highlander - looking sullen, but not so terribly hopeless as to cause distress.• Friendliness and Humility: Sitting by himself- either at the end of the bar or lone table, sits a highlander, enjoying a colorful, 'fruity' looking drink- or something more simple, depending on the setting. By himself, he seems to be people-watching. As he lazily glances about, his eyes lock with yours eventually. At first, he flinches somewhat as if embarrassed that he's been noticed. However, after a moment, a small smile spreads across his face before he lifts his hand to give a wave.• Wounded: The wilds can be a dangerous place, even for seasoned fighters like Rundal. He's welcomed his share of scars to adorn his flesh, but what if he meets his match? Be it a bandit attack that's left him bloodied and nearly naked having his belongings snatched, or the end of a fight with a hungry beast at which you stumble upon. Will you aid this gladiator down on his luck?

Out of Character
Hey there! My name's Bridge and I appreciate you being interested enough to take a peek here! I'm a casual FF14 player who's been roleplaying for a number of years now, but has only recently(as of September-ish, 2020) gotten into RPing in Eorzea. A lot of that RP has been... on the debaucherous spectrum of things, but I'm not all doing story-based scenes.I'm, typically, a pretty quiet individual. Not that I like to be! I just find comfort a lot easier on my lonesome, but that doesn't mean I don't appreciate someone to chat with! Really, I can ramble on and on at times. So, if I sound like I could possibly be a halfway pleasant individual, feel free to contact me!Anyways! I hope to hear from you - be you a stranger or a familiar face!I do indulge in ERP. For more info regarding that, please look to here.My Twitter linked below is also incredibly NSFW, so please be aware of that.
